First of all I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Very Happy New Year and trust you have all enjoyed the Christmas break.
It will be good to get back to rugby today following the severe disruption caused by the pre Christmas weather. Revised dates for cancelled matches are detailed elsewhere in the programme. The second part of the season will put great strain on all the players and coaches with such an intense schedule of games , especially if we are unlucky with injuries.
Today's visitors are our near neighbors Coney Hill RFC, who will be keen to improve their fortunes in 2011. Presently bottom of National League 3 South West Coney Hill remain a determined team and Old Pats will have to play well to repeat victory earlier in the season at Coney Hill by 34 - 0.
Coney Hill coach Paul Morris is no stranger to Everest Road having served OPRFC with great distinction both as a player, captain and coach. A warm welcome to Paul, the players, supporters and Committee of Coney Hill.
Congratulations to all those involved in the November sponsorship project for the Everyman Charity, which supports mens health issues. Over £2000 was raised, which included a really enjoyable Charity Race Night at the club. Special thanks to Chris Downes for the lead he took in the organisation together with also Stu Taylor and Ian Hopkins.
Many of you will be aware the former OPRFC Chairman, Ray Kingscott, suffered a heart attack before Christmas. I am delighted to report Ray is now back at home and I know you will all want to join me in wishing Ray a speedy recovery.
