CLUB HISTORY

1906: Rugby was commenced at Cheltenham Grammar School.

1913: The Old Patesians Rugby Football Club was formed.
1925/1926: The "Echo" reviewing early seasons prospects, commented "followers of the Old Patesians will be provided with the best football, played in the right spirit....the Old Patesians play the game for the games sake and the pleasure derived is shared by players and spectators alike"
1947: The Old Patesians Association was formed.
1975: The ground at Everest Road was opened putting an end to the clubs peripatetic wandering.
1987 / 1988: League rugby was introduced. The Old Pats were placed in Gloucestershire One.
1991 / 1992: Gloucestershire One League winners.
1992 / 1993: Gloucestershire / Somerset League winners.
1993 / 1994: Western Counties League winners.
1997 / 1998: South West Two (West) League winners.
2000 / 2001: What an incredible season - the pats under their new coaching team win South West One League on the final saturday of the season by points difference, win the intermediate cup at Twickenham by one point from Blaydon, and loose to Cinderford RFC by a narrow margin in the county cup final. The juniors go on to wind the U17's county cup final.
2001 / 2002: In their first season in the National leagues after taking a couple of games to find their feet the pats finish a very creditable 5th - surprising many ''established'' teams with their playing ability and commitment.
2005/2006: The club closely avoid relegation but win the Cheltenham Combination cup for the 5th year in a row
2006/2007: The club established a competitive womens rugby side and affiliated to the RFUW. The club are relegated from National Rugby. Loose the Cheltenham Combination Cup to Cheltenham after 5 years with the pats.
