The summer ball to beat them all
164 guests enjoyed the best Old Pats ball ever.
Old Pats U15s are a squad of over 40 players all committed to playing rugby together as team and enjoying developing their rugby skills and experience.
Many of the players have enjoyed playing with us since U9s and each year we continue to welcome new players to the squad.
We welcome players from all backgrounds across Cheltenham and many of the schools in and around the town are represented in the squad.
The Old Patesians Junior section exists to encourage children and young adults to develop as rugby and team players throughout their time with us.
Our aim is that they maintain their participation in the sport throughout their junior years and progress to our senior section. To this end, the rugby environment we create for our young players must be safe, fun and inclusive. We welcome players of all standards, irrespective of ability or experience.
Our Club Ethos, based around the RFU core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline & Sportsmanship (TREDS), is at the very heart of everything we think and do to make this happen.
For 2021/22 we have fixtures against local teams every weekend and will normally meet from 10:00 until midday each Sunday.
Our playing base for the season is Balacarras school, East End Road, GL53 8QF Everest Road club house. We will hold a training session during the week to develop our technique and skills and put them into practice at the weekend.
We have a group of six coaches (led by our head coach Andy Houslton) that all the share coaching reponsibilities and develop different aspects of the game
We support players of all abilities and our aim is to develop each of the players to their full potential with a big focus on encourgaing individual confidence through playing as a team.
After a protracted year last season we have the challenge to look forwards to this season of the full 15-a-side game, a big emphasis on players’ positional play, using all 15 players on the team with added excitement of lineouts and scrums.

To the left of the main school gates is Balcarras Road, a small lane runnig up the eastern boundary of the school and the main school carpark. About 100 meters up the lane turn right into the carpark. Once parked walk south around the south side of the school between the school buildings and the Astro pitches. On the right you’ll see steps leading up to the Sports Pavillion and a pathway onto the school fields.
There are toilets in the school sports pavillion
