Another ‘Evening with a local rugby legend’ this time Gloucester and England Centre – Mark Atkinson, was enjoyed by 46 guests at the Old Pats club house, Everest Road, Tuesday 12th April.
Old Pats’ sponsor Nigel Church of First Solution hosted the evening which included a chat with Mark about his Premiership journey, playing for Gloucester and being selected for the 2021 Autumn Internationals.
The conversation then went in lots of different directions with lots of questions from the audience about everything from his time in the Championship to being part of the England Squad environment and working with Eddie Jones. The conversation went on for longer than planned which reflects the honesty with which Mark answered questions.
Guests enjoyed a curry buffet served up by the Tall Order catering team and Clare and Di did a great job keeping the beer flowing.
This was a fantastic opportunity for members of the Pats family to get some insight into the world of a Professional rugby player from a man with the grassroots at his heart. We look forward to the next one.
‘He’s the best attacking 12 in the league’ – giant centre backed for England
Gloucester boss George Skivington rated England new boy Mark Atkinson as the best attacking No12 in the Gallagher Premiership and backed the 6ft 5ins centre to win a first cap in the 2021 Autumn internationals.
Atkinson had spells with Sale Sharks, Wasps, Esher and Bedford before joining Gloucester in 2014.
“I think it’s great,” Gloucester head coach Skivington said of Atkinson’s call-up. “Last season, he was probably the best ball-in-hand 12 in the league.
