U12 Lions and Eagles

Tournament Hosted By

Dursley RFC

This is rugby…….

Cold Autumn Sunday mornings, sun shining and the Old Pats Lions Pride were ready to feast. Their food of the day……Try’s, Tackles and Rucks.

Going into the tournament, the Lions have trained hard with a big focus on positional play, structure and discipline. From the off, it was clear the Lions were focussed and delivering exactly what they had trained to do.

The motoring world uses Horse-Power to measure power, The Old Pats don’t, this isn’t strong enough, we operate on Lion-Pats-Power. We had this in abundance. The forwards used this to their advantage, making incredible yards through the middle of the park, clearing the rucks and creating space for the backs to join the fun.

The backs keen to stamp their authority saw a number of great moves taking place, some from the training ground and some through creative thinking, which really shows how much the boys have grown as a unit. One Team – One Goal.

What is really great to see across this squad is their team spirit. All great rugby team’s are built on trust, respect, positivity and supporting one another. Like a family. Like a pride of Lions!

The Lions stuck to the plan, playing three games, winning three games and not conceding a single try!

This Pride of Lions is growing in strength…..they will continue grow and they will continue to win because they are the Old Pats Lions.

The Eagles have landed…..

Rugby was the target, the Eagles swooping in from Cheltenham had their target in site right from the off.

A solid warm-up from the coaches and the team got them ready mentally and physically. Handling, Tackling, Running lines…..all looking strong!

The largest wingspan of the White Tailed Eagle is 2.185 metres. The Old Pats Eagles have a wingspan of 40 metres as demonstrated by their ability to move the ball across the span of the pitch through numerous phases, something which has been brilliantly coached into the team.

Eagles are described as fast, but the Old Pats Eagles are Quick-Fast, again, something that the lads have all worked so hard on, with the results on clear display. Inspirational.

The team morale was uplifting, as the Eagles soared to Win three games in a row and Drawing the fourth. Across the four games, the Eagles scored 12 tries and conceding only one, a feat that demonstrates the team is a as strong in the attack as they are in defence.

Huge huge huge well done to all the players, and coaches, a performance that everyone can be proud of.

A warm thank you to Dursley hosting such a wonderful tournament and enabling the rugby fraternity to truly shine on the sunniest of days.

Massive thanks to the opposition teams today which included Thornbury, Stroud, Cainscross, Broad Plain, Minchenhampton, Cirencester and of course Dursley. All teams showed great talent, positivity and sportsmanship across the games.
