We need your help!

Can you spare an hour or so a week?

Managing a community club comprising 350 junior players, 100 senior players, 90 officials, 30 sponsors, 12 pitch locations and a wider audience totalling 1300 people, relies on the help from our wonderful volunteers.

We need more help to maintain the Old Pats as a key part of the local community with one of the largest junior sections in the South West.

Being part of the Old Pats team has loads of benefits including the satisfaction of being instrumental in making stuff happen. It’s also great fun and very sociable.

There are many ways you can help

Are you a keen photographer, writer, blogger or even rugby pundit?

Do you enjoy networking and developing relationships with others that might want to support us?

Do you simply enjoy getting stuff done?

Can you spare an hour or so a week?

Your own role

You will be encouraged to develop your role as you see fit, using your own initiative, developing your own strategy and plan of action with helpful advice and support from your Old Pats colleagues when you need it.

Safeguarding Assistants

Are you ready to help us protect the sporting stars of tomorrow?

Old Patesians RFC is one of the largest junior clubs in the region with a significant number of players from age 6 to 18, together with over 100 coaches, team managers, first aiders and other volunteers, spread across a number of locations in the South and East of Cheltenham.

We are now looking to recruit a number of new volunteer Safeguarding Officers to support the Club’s Safeguarding Officer across the Mini & Junior section, and also to provide guidance to the Senior section as required. The age groups usually train and play on a Sunday morning with matches taking place both home and away.

Sponsorship Manager

Love networking?

Could you be passionate about how local business could benefit from their association with a club at the center of such a vibrant community?

  • Maximise the sponsorship income across whole club
  • Expand sponsorship base to mitigate risk from loss of a sponsor
  • Build relationships with sponsors the ensure the package meets their individual needs
  • To ensure aligned sponsorship activities and exposure across the whole club
  • Ensure sponsorship income align to and supports future strategic initiatives
  • Ensure web & social media activity aligns with sponsors expectations

Sponsorship coordinator

Whilst the sponsorship manager focuses on doing the deals, the sponsorship coordinator is instrumental in making it happen i.e. helping to deliver the benefits of sponsoring the club to the sponsor whilst maximising the value of the sponsor to the club

  • Help define and agree sponsorship package
  • Scheduling visibility across the club and its communication channels including sponsorship page, website banners, email banners, social media promotions, mentions and shares etc
  • Ensure sponsors are aware of the profile from website and social media activity
  • Support sponsorship manager to maintain relationship with existing sponsors to maximise repeat deals

Social Media Manager

We require a social media manager/coordinator who can:

  • Ensure that SM activity is maximised to engage with the wider community and illustrate the role Old Pats RFC play
  • Ensure SM activity has a positive impact on Sponsors and demonstrates Old Pats RFC support of sponsors and links their support to continued success
  • Ensure that SM material is tailored to different mediums to maximise impact
  • Develop a simple and highly impactful SM strategy that tells a clear story and maximises impact
  • Ensure that content appears in a timely manner to maximise impact
  • Maximise the impact that SM has in terms of player recruitment

Photographers

There’s nothing quite like a good picture to tell a story in an instant.

Club communications across all channels especially social media and the website now relies on quality photography.

We are looking for photography enthusiasts who might only have a high end mobile phone to capture those special moments at the Old Pats whether it’s the last few minutes of a cold, muddy January seniors match or the band playing at the ball.

Pictures that demonstrate the impact of Old Pats RFC

  • Take photographs at Old Pats events your closely associated with e.g. your team, or team event
  • Send your photographs to the web and SM teams
  • Ensure new and interesting photos are submitted on a regular basis
  • Provide photos that support the SM strategy and specific time sensitive focus

Bloggers/pundits

Like the idea of wriitng for the Old Pats? You might already be enthusiastic social media contributors or blog writers, however that’s not essential. Nor are we looking for the next Gabby Logan or John Inverdale!

We’re simply looking for short, pithy, thoughtful and often humorous reports, observations and opinions on anything Old Pats and Rugby which can be shared on the website and social media.

  • Produce short and interesting match reports and news items from specific teams/age groups – maybe your age group?
  • Produce interest stories related to coaches, players and volunteers to demonstrate the club ethos and impact
  • Regular submission of copy to the SM and website team to maintain positive profile
  • Ensure narrative is created to support SM strategy or specific areas of focus
