The sun was shining brightly on the Oddington Road ground, as the U11’s Old Pats Barbarians squad took on Stow on the Wold RFC over 2 matches. The away team started brightly from the off, tackling a well drilled Stow team in phase after phase of heavy attack.
When Stow did eventually break through, the Barbarians doubled down in their aggressive and weaving runs with ball in hand to hit back with some sensational tries.
The Barbarians managed to hold out Stow and turn the ball over when pressured on their own line on several occasions which showed real heart and fighting spirit.
In open play, occasional hesitancy in the ruck to retain the ball put further pressure on the Barbarians defence, but from the side lines all could see the huge improvements in tackling from the last visit to Stow. After great individual play and teamwork from all the players, both games were tight affairs with Stow just getting the upper hand.
Every Barbarian should be very proud of their excellent performance and will look forward to their next fixture.
