It was a beautiful autumnal morning at Reeves field. Having already dispatched Stroud, the Lions faced Dursley in their second match of the morning, in front of what can only be described as a gnarled set of parents, ravaged by the excesses of a yet another heavy weekend.

The Lions were up and running quickly. A constant menace in the tackle with lots of ripping the ball off the opposition and disruptive at the breakdown. They starved Dursley of possession and forced an increasing number of penalties at the ruck.

Once in possession, the Lions were equally as effective. Running hard and straight resulted in several tries, but was also committing Dursley defenders and leaving space out wide.

This approach was amplified by an array of well timed offloads in the tackle. A feature of the Lions play throughout the day.

The try of the day was an end to end flowing team move with great passing to exploit the space out wide. A magical bit of rugby that won the applause of both sets of supporters.

To Dursley’s great credit they fought to the end and pulled two well taken tries back through one of their subs.

The game was played in a great spirit and it was lovely to see all players enjoying each others company in the sun afterwards.
