Match Report
Under 11's Green Team find their groove to claim a win in the last play of the game.
Perfect conditions for the first U11 Green team game against the Gordon League.
The first 10 minute half was tight as each side probed the other with fast runs and solid tackles in defence. There were good skills on display by both teams, and a heroic try saving tackle by Old Pats in the last minute left the score an even 0-0 at the break.
The second half continued to be tight, and the first try went to Gordon League with some strong running. Old Pats didn’t hang around and counter attacked with an almost length of the field run to even the score. Gordon Leagues more solid player then scored a powerful try down the middle, proving a difficult unit to tackle! Not to be deterred, Old Pats scored again to even things at 2-2 with a minute left to play.
Gordon League ran a penalty and would have got over the line had it not been for a last ditch Old Pats tackle. A long kick by Old Pats then freed up the space for a score in the last play of the game. A fantastic and close game with a 3-2 win to Old Pats.
Overall, this was a solid and tight display by the green team, with many spectators saying it was their best performance to date.
