As many of you will now know, recently, the family of one of our Old Pats U12 players received the devastating news that their youngest son has bone cancer. The U12 age group wanted to help raise some funds for the family, and had planned a raffle at the Juniors Xmas club day.
Unfortunately the club day was scuppered by Covid, and so, it appeared, would be the raffle….. Not for long, however, as the Old Pats rugby family were galvanised into action.
Neil (U13) suggested and set up the GoFundMe page, with support from Susan (U10). Raffle prizes were donated/ facilitated by Anth (U10), Ross (U12), Andrea (U12) & Gemma (U14). Rachel (U16), Laurence (Communications) & Connor (Seniors) then ensured that the fundraiser was communicated across the club and beyond. Andrea (U12) provided updates and coordinated the raffle.
The rugby family then did the rest. Donations flooded in from across all the junior age groups, the wider Old Pats community and then even further, across the whole rugby family – including previous Old Pats players, other clubs and our sponsors.
As can be seen, many people helped to create this fundraiser, and many more donated.
Together….. we have raised £6,618 for our U12 player’s family, which will mean that the parents can focus their time and attention on all three of their children during this stressful period of treatment for their youngest child.
Together….. we have helped this family to be able to put their family first.
Together….. we are a team.
We continue to send our best wishes and support to our U12 player’s family.
