Taking and uploading match images
A digital SLR is ideal, however, some of our best shots have been taken with high-quality smartphones which are always to hand and easy to use.
Landscape images are best making sure the subject matter is in the middle and in the case of team shots there is enough space either side above and below to enable us to crop to 1600 x 1000 px (pixels) for banner and library images.
You can upload images directly from your smart phone using this form, alternatively, you might find it easier to transfer images to your PC, Laptop, Applemac then use this form on there.
You can submit up to four images which will be ample for the match report. If you need to submit more just use the from twice.
Due to the volume of images being submitted please name each image by season + age group + opposition team + date (month and year) + image number e.g. 2022-23-U16-Stroud-09-22-1
If you can crop the images before you send them that would be a huge help as we’re getting so many sent to us.
For the website we’re using 1600 X 1200 px (pixels)
For social media we are using the following:
Facebook Post 940 x 788 px
Instagram Post 1080 x 1080 px
Tweet Image 1200 x 675 px
Please have images full bleed (to the edge) rather than including any borders. Montages accpeted if you want to be really creative.
The best and easiest image creation/cropping tool is Canva which has a phone app. (please no text overlays as we’re keeping match reports action shots image only.
Writing match reports
The following is a guide/suggestion only so sorry if we’re telling you to suck egs 🙁
For age groups 9 – 16 please keep the report generic and avoid using player names especially if the players appear in the match photos.
Please acknowledge the performance of the team as a whole and if your team wins by a significant margin please be circumspect and pay tribute to your opponents achievements, best play, attitude etc as well.
Your match reports should include:
Short eye-catching easy to understand headline
Short pithy intro paragraph/sentence that summarises the match. This could also be used as the match report excerpt when the report appears in latest news/events across the website
Report (approx 300 words) comprising short pithy paragraphs not one lump of text – please break it up so it’s easier on the eye.
A light hearted/humorous sign-off
