Match Report
U12 Vikings v Stroud RFC and Minchinhampton RFC
What a fantastic morning for rugby. The sun shone down on us all and the teams entertained everyone with a dazzling display of rugby.
For their second fixture weekend we hosted Stroud and Minchinhampton at the beautiful Reeves Field.
Nick and the squad gave debutants Noah and Archie the time honoured welcome to the club and the action began.
In their first match, versus Stroud, the Vikings were quickly into their stride. A mixture of physicality and speed brought success in the opening half with 4 unanswered tries, including one for Noah on his debut.
The second half was slightly more fractured. Stroud found some composure and settled into the game. Their pacey wing man found more space and scored a couple of tries. Pleasingly, the Vikings also responded with a couple of tries of their own. The final score was 6 – 2.
The Vikings second match brought the Vikings up against the ‘Barbarians’ (a mixture of old Pats, Stroud and Minchinhampton players) for what proved to be a more open game. Tries a plenty for both teams!!
Their final match of the day was against Minchinhampton. The Vikings made a confident start, bringing their power game to the fore. Two quick tries were scored as a result of some direct running and a third try was scored just before the break.
The second half was another tight affair. Minchinhampton put some strong runs together as the Vikings too often went too high into the tackle. Our visitors scored a couple of tries, whilst an individual effort from Ewan ensured the Vikings ran out eventual winners, by 4 tries to 2.

PS After the final whistle the action quickly moved to the hot dog table….
