U9’s kick off their competitive season in style
U9’s kick off their competitive fixtures against Minchinhampton
The U9’s travelled to Minchinhampton for their first competitive fixture in blustery, cold conditions – even the advisable extra layer wasn’t quite enough.
We travelled with 34 players making up 3 teams which Minch kindly matched despite lower squad numbers.
Over 3 round robin matches, OP’s demonstrated a lot of the pre-Christmas learning with some superb running and even more impressive tackling across the teams despite not having played contact for almost a month.
Everyone across the teams got plenty of game time and played incredibly well against a well prepared and established Minch team, whose coaching and refereeing support to both teams throughout the games were very helpful to the inexperienced OP’s teams and allowed the matches to flow admirably in the conditions.
All of the players & coaches came off with smiles on their faces after highly competitive and successful results across the matches, with the smiles getting even bigger when they heard about the free hot dogs after the match.
We thank Minch for hosting us with all their friendly families, coaches and club members and we look forward to hosting a return fixture at Everest road in 3 weeks time.
