Head Coach

We’re excited to kick off the 2025/2026 the U10s season and continue building on the fantastic progress all of our players made last year as U9s. The foundation is set, and we’re ready to take things to the next level!

Last season saw tremendous growth from every player. The team bonded fantastically most of which began playing with real cohesion and confidence by the end of the season.  Our coaching team remains committed to nurturing individual skills, challenging players to reach their full potential, and strengthening teamwork and communication, key ingredients for success both on and off the pitch.

One of the highlights last season was our participation in the GRFU Festival hosted by Brockworth RFC. Despite the wet weather, our players gave an outstanding performance and commitment & thoroughly enjoyed the day!

To celebrate last season’s achievements, we held an end-of-season awards ceremony where each player received a certificate and medal in recognition of their dedication and teamwork. This was a proud moment for coaches, players, and parents alike!

We are really looking forward to welcoming the kids, and their families, on this journey and wholeheartedly ask you to support us, and the club, in any way possible.

Please get in touch if you would like your son or daughter to join the U10’s

This season

This season, we will likely be fielding two mixed-ability squads for each fixture, with flexibility to rotate players as needed. This approach ensures everyone gets game time and has opportunities to grow at their own ability & pace.

We will also be moving our home fixtures and training sessions to the Reeves Sports Field, where we’ll share the space with older age groups. This change will help foster camaraderie and give our U10s squad a chance to observe and learn from the older teams in action!

We’re thrilled to be participating in two GRFU festivals this season, which will be hosted by Dursley RFC and Longlevens RFC, they both promise to be fantastic experiences for the team.

End of Season Tour

For the first time we are planning an out-of-county tour towards the end of the season, details on the location and costs will be shared once finalized.

Coaching team and officials

The U10 coaching team have been selected from parents of players who have either graduated from Tag Trojans last year, joined from other clubs or who have never played before. Parents of players of all abilities are encouraged to consider joining the coaching team – it is never too late and we are always looking for volunteers!! Coaching, kit, socials, sandwiches – we need as much help as you can spare!!!

Our coaching team comprises parents who have played, studied and enjoyed rugby for many years.

All our coaches will go through Safeguarding, First Aid, Coaching, Contact and Refereeing courses, supported by the wider club and their policies and procedures.

We are very grateful to the hard work and commitment of our volunteer coaching team so please give them as much support as you can, on and off the pitch.

Our ethos

Our Club Ethos, based around the RFU core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship (TREDS), is at the very heart of everything we do.

We are committed to developing the confidence and self-belief of every player from the U9’s to the Seniors by providing them with the opportunities, encouragement and support they need to enjoy their rugby to the full and fulfil their potential as a player and a teammate.

To this end, the rugby environment we create for our young players, irrespective of ability or experience must be safe, fun, and inclusive.

Old Pats is committed to mixed ability sides offering equal opportunity for all as players develop skills at different ages. Investing in all our players, rather than a select few, results in players, parents, teams, and the club as a whole benefiting in the long term.
