Welcome to Old Patesians U12s!
We look forward to the start of the new season as U12’s, building on the progress of last year, where we made strong showings at both the Gloucestershire County and Chipping Norton Festivals.
A second successful 3 day, end of season Tour to Herefordshire was also a highlight, which continued to develop the boys teamwork and friendships. These bonds of teamwork are so important and our squad continues to be drawn from many local schools throughout Cheltenham and further afield.
Our Coaching Focus will continue to be on developing skills and challenging players to be the best player they can be. Match teams are NOT selected on ability but on Attitude, Attendance and Commitment.
The game we play continues to evolve and there are some fundamental changes and developments compared to last year. We will now play 12 a side rather than 9 a side, a significant change.
We once again intend to run 2 team squads of mixed ability for the forthcoming season, although players will be interchangeable when necessary.
We will once again take part in the Gloucestershire RFU County Festival in the spring, but we will hopefully entering a team into the Defender Premiership Rugby Cup Festival , sometime in February and several other Tournaments.
The squads will train and play their home matches at Reeves Field (Cheltenham College Playing Fields) this season. Training is generally between 09.30 and 11:15 every Sunday, unless we have matches when the times may vary.

We are committed to developing the confidence and self-belief of every player from the U9’s to the Seniors by providing them with the opportunities, encouragement and support they need to enjoy their rugby to the full and fulfil their potential as a player and a teammate.
To this end, the rugby environment we create for our young players, irrespective of ability or experience must be safe, fun, and inclusive.
Old Pats is committed to mixed ability sides offering equal opportunity for all as players develop skills at different ages. Investing in all our players, rather than a select few, results in players, parents, teams, and the club as a whole benefiting in the long term.

Reeves field is a Cheltenham College sports field situated adjacent to the Old Bath Road just north of East Gloucestershire Tennis Club.
Parking is available at Cheltenham College Sports Centre, Thirlestaine Road, Cheltenham GL53 7AH – 500 meters west of Reeves Field.
PLEASE ALWAYS PARK AT CHELTENHAM COLLEGE SPORTS CENTRE FOR TRAINING AND MATCHES
There are toilets in the Reeves Pavilion and Meadow Cafe is situated on Cox’s Meadow adjacent to Reeves Field to the north, accessed by exiting via the main entrance and walking north down the Old Bath Road (5 minutes max)
